Multimedia Performances
The Silk Road Ensemble develops multimedia performances that integrate music, narrative, images and animation. The Ensemble created Blue and White, a work tracing the migration of blue-and-white porcelain throughout the world, during residencies at the Art Institute of Chicago and Museum Rietberg in Zurich, Switzerland.

Rauf Islamov

Kamancheh (Azerbaijan) Rauf Islamov has studied at the Asaf Zeynalli Music College (1994-1998) and the National Conservatory (2001-2005). Among his teachers were Azerbaijan's renowned kamancheh performers Fakhraddin Dadashov and Adalat Vazirov.

In 1998, Islamov was awarded the laureateship at the mugham competition in Azerbaijan. This was also the year he began collaborating with Alim Qasimov. Since then, he has performed internationally as a part of traditional mugham trio led by Qasimov. Islamov performs with the Silk Road Ensemble and collaborates with the Cultural Center "Alim" in Baku.

Since 2006, Islamov has been teaching the kamancheh class at the Azerbaijan National Conservatory.
