Residencies

The Silk Road Project has conducted residencies at museums and universities around the world. Ensemble members spend from a week to several months in close partnership with a host institution, giving gallery performances, demonstrations and workshops. These collaborations forge connections between music, art, culture and the scholarship of a range of disciplines.

Residency sites have included:

  • Museum Rietberg (Zurich, Switzerland)
  • Art Institute of Chicago
  • University of California, Santa Barbara
  • Rubin Museum of Art (New York City)
  • Nara National Museum (Japan)
  • Peabody Essex Museum (Massachusetts)
  • American Museum of Natural History (New York City)

“We all at the museum were enchanted by the music, the stories and especially the friendliness and enthusiasm of all of the people involved in this project.”

- ALBERT LUTZ
Director of Museum Rietberg
