October 10, 2001, New York—The Silk Road Project has added two new special concerts to the fall schedule in the United States. Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will appear at Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas in a presentation by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra on October 11, followed by a performance at Woodruff Arts Center in Atlanta in a presentation by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra on October 14. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture has made these two concerts possible for the Dallas Symphony and the Atlanta Symphony through their generous support to these presenting organizations.

Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble will perform a number of works specially commissioned for the Silk Road Project, as well as Western music influenced by Eastern traditions. Led by Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma and a distinguished international team of musicians, artists and scholars, the Project's mission is to connect people through art and music in order to promote cultural understanding and artistic innovation.

"There is an unbelievable need for people to come together at this time. There is an incredible power in music and this is a unique time to make a difference culturally," commented Ma.

The Silk Road Project has received generous support. The Aga Khan Trust for Culture is the lead funder and a key creative partner of the Project.
