The Arts and Passion-Driven Learning
Cambridge, MA: August 7–9, 2013
Presented in collaboration with the Harvard Graduate School of Education
Join educators and artists from a variety of backgrounds to deepen your understanding of how learning takes place in and through the arts. Examine the roles of engagement, connections, collaborations and communities in learning, and consider issues of access and quality in the arts.
The program will open with a plenary session with cellist and Silk Road Project Artistic Director Yo-Yo Ma and a concert by the Silk Road Ensemble.
Harvard faculty members, artists from the Silk Road Ensemble, and artist-educators specializing in arts integration will lead a variety of sessions to explore and analyze what passion-driven learning looks like in arts-integrated settings.
Participants will engage in arts experiences led by the Silk Road Ensemble, classroom practice workshops, panel discussions and small group sessions during this two-and-a-half day institute.
